West Indies Test Squad named for Tour of Australia
ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – The Cricket West Indies (CWI) Senior Men’s Selection Panel today announced the 15-member squad to travel to Australia to play a two-Test series as part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) from 17 to 29 January 2024.
The West Indies will again be led by Captain Kraigg Brathwaite, with fast bowler Alzarri Joseph named as the new Vice Captain. The squad will arrive in Australia on 30 December and will hold a preparation camp from 2 – 9 January in Adelaide, followed by a Four (4) Day First Class warm-up match against a Cricket Australia XI at the Karen Rolton Oval (KRO) in Adelaide from 10 – 13 January.
The selectors have named several uncapped players in the squad. These are: batter Zachary McCaskie, wicket-keeper Tevin Imlach; allrounders Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge and Kevin Sinclair, as well as fast bowlers Akeem Jordan and Shamar Joseph.
England post record 267 vs Windies to level T20 series 2-2
After a successful record-breaking run chase against West Indies in Grenada on Saturday, England put on another mesmerising display with the bat to post the fifth-highest international T20 score, a mammoth 267/3, which shellshocked the maroon and allowed the Three Lions to notch a series-levelling victory by 75 runs.
In-form opening batsman Phil Salt peppered the West Indian bowlers to score his second consecutive T20I century, a scintillating 119 from 57 balls to spearhead the target, which was ably assisted by fiery knocks from Liam Livingstone (54 not out from 21) and skipper Jos Buttler (55 from 29), batting first. This was also England's highest-ever T20I score.
In reply, West Indies showed fight in their chase but lost wickets at crucial points despite staying ahead of the high run rate, courtesy of brave batting from Nicholas Pooran (39 from 15) and Sherfane Rutherford (36 from 15).
In the end, the hosts fell short of the distant target and were dismissed for 192 in 15.3 overs.

Joseph, Powell land lucrative contracts
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CMC) - Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph fetched a record million-dollar deal while his Twenty20 Captain Rovman Powell also picked up a lucrative contract, to be among four West Indies players sold in the Indian Premier League auction here Tuesday.
The 27-year-old Joseph, who has made 115 international appearances across all three formats, was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for US$1.3 million following a bidding war with Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants.
Powell, appointed to lead the regional side earlier this year, was the first player sold in the auction when he was snapped up by Rajasthan Royals for US$892,000 following a tussle with Kolkata Knight Riders over his services.
The 30-year-old right-hander is currently leading West Indies in the fourth T20 International against England at Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad.
Powell and Joseph were joined by West Indies One-Day International Captain Shai Hope and left-hander Sherfane Rutherford, who also found success in the auction.

England's fears realised after murder outside hotel
ENGLAND's cricket team's concerns were confirmed early Monday morning when a man was gunned down outside the Hyatt Regency where the team is staying, in Port of Spain.
The bullet-riddled body of Morvant resident Wendell Walker, 47, was found around 1.20am in the driver's seat of a silver Mercedes Benz.
England are in Trinidad for the final leg of their tour of the Caribbean. They face the West Indies in the fourth and fifth matches of their Twenty20 series, trailing 2-1. The fourth match bowls off at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba on Tuesday at 4pm.
A source close to the team said "the security advice before arriving in Trinidad was not to leave the hotel footprint.

West Indies name squad for fourth and fifth T20Is against England in Trinidad
ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The Cricket West Indies (CWI) Senior Men’s Selection Panel has made two changes to the 15-member squad ahead of the fourth and fifth T20 Internationals (T20Is) against England.
The Selection Panel is resting fast bowler Alzarri Joseph in consideration of his workload including the forthcoming all-format tour of Australia in January and February. He is replaced in the squad by fellow pacer Oshane Thomas. Johnson Charles, the experienced batter is also called into the squad to replace Shimron Hetmyer.
West Indies currently lead the Series 2-1 after winning the first two T20Is in Barbados and Grenada. England won the third match in Grenada ahead of the two teams travelling to Trinidad for the finale. The West Indies have a chance to clinch the T20I Series on Tuesday 19 December in the fourth encounter at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy. The final match will be played on the Thursday 21 December at the same venue. Both matches are day/night games with the first ball bowled at 4pm local time (3pm Jamaica time).
