The Barbados Royals played its four home matches against the Trinbago Knight Riders, Jamaica Tallawahs, St Lucia Kings, and St Kitts & Nevis Patriots during its homestead. As the cricketing fraternity in Jamaica continues to reel from news that the Government did not bid for any match in the region's hosting of the 2024 Twenty20 (T20) World Cup, one stakeholder has described the seeming indifference as "anti-cricket".
The tournament, scheduled for next June, is to be co-hosted by Cricket West Indies and United States Cricket.
Dr Akshai Mansingh, the dean of the Faculty of Sport at The University of the West Indies, said that by not bidding as a host venue, the Jamaican Government has shunned opportunities to boost the economy, upgrade infrastructure and further showcase the country as a tourist destination.
"We've turned our back to all of that, either because we don't have the foresight for planning, or we don't see this as a priority, or it's the anti-cricket direction we seem to be taking in Jamaica, whereby Jamaican cricket is being ignored, by and large," he told the Jamaica Observer on Wednesday.

Trinbago Knight Riders recorded their first win of the 2023 Massy Women’s Premier League (WCPL) to keep their final hopes alive at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad.
The Knight Riders beat Hayley Matthews’ previously unbeaten Barbados Royals by 13 runs, meaning the winner of the final group match between the Knight Riders and the Guyana Amazon Warriors on Saturday will play the Royals in Sunday’s final.
The Knight Riders kept the theme going with winning the toss and opting to bat first. Deandra Dottin’s side applied pressure early with a strong PowerPlay setting up for a big score, keeping wickets in hand, eventually finishing on 155/3.
Gaby Lewis put up a good fight with a half-century in reply after a good start with Matthews but tight bowling eventually made 156 look too far away late on.
Knight Riders scored 33 runs inside two overs in the PowerPlay courtesy of quickfire starts from Marie Kelly and Kycia Knight. At 58/1 from six overs, the hosts continued to put on partnerships with low risk through the experience of captain Deandra Dottin and Mignon du Preez keeping the steady innings ticking over to reach 155/3 despite just one six in the innings.

Trinbago Knight Riders earned a valuable win as they defeated Barbados Royals by 42 runs in the 2023 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
Barbados Royals won the toss and chose to field first, however, Nicholas Pooran would score a fantastic century as the Knight Riders posted a sizeable total of 208/6 after 20 overs.
The Royals were unable to chase down that total despite a valiant 70 from Kyle Mayers, as the spin bowling of Waqar Salamkheil and Akeal Hosein played a crucial role in restricting the Royals to 166/7 after 20 overs.
Opener Mark Deyal went early in the Knight Riders innings to a superb Roelof van der Merwe catch on the boundary, however Nicholas Pooran and Martin Guptill would rebuild with a steady partnership of 56 before Guptill lost his wicket, and two balls later, for the second evening in a row, captain Kieron Pollard was run out.
