ST. JOHN'S, ANTIGUA – Cricket West Indies (CWI) will hold elections for the office of the Vice President on September 20, 2024. On Tuesday, August 8, 2024, at a Board of Directors meeting, in consideration of the recent judicial pronouncement from the High Court of Guyana concerning the challenge to the Vice President's election initiated by the Guyana Cricket Board, the decision was made to have the re-elections as soon as possible. This decision means that Mr. Azim Bassarath has vacated the office of Vice President for CWI.
Commenting on the Board's position, CWI President Dr Kishore Shallow said,
"This situation presents an invaluable opportunity to strengthen the CWI Memorandum and Articles of Association. Over time, policies and frameworks will always be tested. As a Board, we must remain open-minded and committed to evolving in all aspects; this circumstance is a testament to such fact," said Dr Shallow.

West Indies’ Under-19 women’s team will bowl off their 2025 Women’s T20 World Cup campaign against defending champions India when the tournament gets under way next January.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the schedule for the tournament yesterday. It will feature 16 teams and run from January 18 to February 2, 2025 in Malaysia.
Malaysia will be the sole hosts of the World Cup following Thailand’s withdrawal as co-hosts.
The West Indies, who have been drawn in Group A alongside the defending champs, Sri Lanka and hosts Malaysia, will face India on January 19, with hosts Malaysia facing Sri Lanka earlier in the day at Bayuemas Oval.
The second edition of the competition follows a successful inauguration in South Africa in 2023, where India beat England by seven wickets in a thrilling final to be crowned the first-ever winners.
Cricket West Indies (CWI) is excited to announce the West Indies U19 Women’s Squad selected for the upcoming tour of the United Kingdom. This tour is a crucial part of the team’s preparation for the ICC Women’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup, set to take place in January 2025 in Malaysia.
The tour will see the team participate in a series of highly competitive matches, including an England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) development tournament. This tournament will feature teams from Scotland and Ireland, with the West Indies U19 Women’s team guaranteed three T20 matches. In addition, three fixtures have been scheduled against an ECB Southern Under 19 Women’s Regional Team, comprising two days of T20 doubleheaders and a 30-over match on the third day.

During this period, they all will work closely with the CWI science and medicine team.”
