Following a disastrous 2021 T20 World Cup campaign, in which they could only muster a solitary victory, and the low of a 2-1 One-Day International (ODI) series defeat to Ireland, the West Indies provided the perfect bounce back; with a victorious end to an enthralling five-match T20 series against England, in which the series decider came down to the final 6 deliveries.
It is no exaggeration to say that both the Caribbean side and Caribbean fans, needed that victory; though less than full-strength England might have been. To that end, Cricket West Indies (CWI) named an unchanged squad to challenge India across a three-match T20 International series in India.
Heading into the series against England, the main goal for the West Indies batting line-up should have been clear: striking the balance between power-hitting through 20 overs and trusting the seemingly endless list of finishers available at the death. Still, it took a 29-ball 72-run 10th wicket partnership falling a run shy of victory in the 2nd T20I to remind the top-order of the finishing capabilities they preceded.

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) — More cricket fans will get the opportunity to attend the second match of the Apex Test Series between West Indies and England at Kensington next month, with officials increasing the allowed capacity at the stadium to 80 percent, but again with only fully vaccinated spectators.
Minister of Health Ian Gooding-Edghill made the announcement at a press conference on Saturday, saying that public health officials had indicated that outdoor, open-air events would not pose a significant threat to public health once COVID-19 protocols were followed.
The change was one of several that will take effect on Monday, including the removal of the existing midnight to 5:00 am curfew.
Kensington Oval operated at 50 percent capacity for the five-match Betway T20I series which West Indies won 3-2.

Cricket West Indies (CWI)has offered congratulations to the West Indies players chosen in the auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which was conducted in Bengaluru on Saturday and Sunday.
From the large pool of available players, 14 West Indians were chosen to join Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell, who were retained by their respective franchises ahead of the auction. The total price paid for the West Indies players was US$10.85 million.
The 17 West Indians make up the largest number of foreign players in the IPL, from any territory outside of India.
In offering his congratulations, CWI President Ricky Skerritt said the number of players signed is an indication of the talent that exists within the region.
“I want to congratulate all of the West Indies players who have secured contracts to the various franchises in the IPL, which is the biggest and most lucrative global T20 franchise tournament. But I especially want to applaud those younger players who received their first full IPL contracts,” he said.

The Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has donated TT$135,000 (US$20,000) to THE SHELTER, a non-profit NGO based in Trinidad & Tobago that offers support to women and children who have been victims of domestic violence.
THE SHELTER was founded in 1987 by Dianna Mahabir-Wyatt and offers safe haven to those who have been victims of all forms of domestic violence, offering safe temporary housing until something more permanent can be found, material assistance and counselling. The aim of THE SHELTER is to help women and children overcome the impacts of violence and abuse.

Head coach Phil Simmons conceded Friday that West Indies’ frail batting required “urgent attention” after the Caribbean side were whitewashed by India following a 96-run defeat in the final One-Day International.
West Indies failed to reach 200 in any of the three matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium, dismissed for 176, 193 and 169, with all-rounder Jason Holder the only player to notch a half-century.
“It (batting) does need urgent attention because it has just lost us the last two games,” Simmons said.
