Kevin Sinclair, the off-spinning allrounder has replaced Raymon Reifer in the squad. Reifer will however travel to Trinidad as cover in case of injury. Sinclair was among the leading players in the West Indies Championship four-day first-class competition earlier this year. He also played a significant role with bat and ball in the recent West Indies “A” Team series win in Bangladesh.
Overall, he has so far played 18 first-class matches with 54 wickets including three five-wicket hauls at an average of 23.98 each. With the bat he has scored 756 runs at an average of 29, including six half centuries.

TRINIDAD and Tobago Under-19 women’s teams defeated the Windward Islands by 37 runs to win the inaugural West Indies Rising Stars 30-Over Championship title at Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground in St Augustine on Saturday.
Djenaba Joseph’s stellar knock of 43 and a match-winning spell of 3/11 from skipper Shalini Samaroo saw the hosts better Windwards in the trophy match.
Batting first, TT opener Joseph was the only standout with the bat while number ten batter Aniaya Roberts (11) was the only other to get within double digits. Samaroo scored one run but made up for it later on.
They were dismissed for 106 from 28.5 overs.
On the victory, Samaroo was elated. After last year’s runner-up finish, losing out to the USA in the 50-Over final at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, she was happy to be back to winning ways.
“After that heartbreak last year with USA coming and beating us in our hometown. This year we just stuck to a few targets and what we wanted for ourselves. We maintained those and they were good enough to go all the way,” Samaroo said.

West Indies Test captain Kraigg Brathwaite is hoping for a greener, more pace-friendly pitch at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad as the home team aim to bounce back in the second and final Test match against India on Thursday.
With Dominica’s spin-friendly pitch favouring the Indian squad – which was pivotal in their demolition of the maroon inside three days – Brathwaite is looking forward to better bowling conditions in Trinidad to amplify their chances of a possible series tie.
When asked about the pitch conditions working against the hosts, Brathwaite said, “I was obviously a bit surprised but I think we can’t control that. Unfortunately, India coming to a spinning pitch, and that’s all I can say about it.
“Hopefully in Trinidad, we can get a pitch with some grass and assistance to more pace-friendly than spin-friendly. But we got to wait and see what we get in Trinidad.”

RICKET superstar Andre Russell says he is willing to pass up some franchise league engagements to allow him to play for West Indies ahead of the Twenty20 (T20) World Cup next year.
The 35-year-old all-rounder, one of the most sought-after players in franchise cricket, last played for the West Indies during their disappointing T20 World Cup campaign in the United Arab Emirates and Oman in 2021.
Last summer, West Indies Lead Selector Desmond Haynes and former Head Coach Phil Simmons, in response to questions about absent elite players for series against Bangladesh, India and New Zealand, had noted that the lure of lucrative leagues at times creates a dilemma for the region's best players.
"I am available. I want to be a part of the next World Cup so that would be something special to me if they can add me to the squad," he told the Jamaica Observer.
