ST. JOHN’S, Antigua- Britney Cooper has been named by Cricket West Indies (CWI) Interim Selection Panel to the West Indies Women team, as the replacement for Kycia Knight for the final match of the Colonial Medical Insurance One Day International Series against Australia Women.
Kycia suffered a lower back injury during the opening overs of the first ODI at the Coolidge Cricket Ground. After examining the scans done on Kycia, the CWI Medical Panel has ruled her out the remainder of the series.
Britney joined the team in Antigua on Monday in preparation for the final match at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds on Thursday.

Former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd says appointing Kieron Pollard as T20 and One Day International captain was a good choice by Cricket West Indies (CWI).
Speaking from his UK base, Lloyd told The Gleaner that he wholeheartedly supports the decision and that it was a good move at the right time for the West Indies, who needed someone with much more experience.
"Pollard's appointment was the best thing that Cricket West Indies could do right now, he has tons of experience playing all over the world and you can see in his leadership now in the CPL, that he is well-respected and he certainly will do a good job for the West Indies," outlined Lloyd.
OF SPAIN, Trinidad – Cricket West Indies (CWI) today confirmed the start of the recruitment process for a permanent West Indies men’s team Head Coach, announcing a new selection structure and policy as well as confirming the appointment of Kieron Pollard as the new “white ball” captain for the West Indies One Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) squads.
This follows a comprehensive review by CWI’s Selection Task Force into the selection process and system for all West Indies cricket, with all the recommendations approved by the CWI Board of Directors at the quarterly meeting, held for the first time in Tobago on September 7 and 8.
The Selection Task Force’s four-month review benchmarked cricket selection systems around the world and incorporated feedback and contributions from current and former players, coaches, administrators, franchise CEOs and nearly 2,700 fans across the Caribbean.
The Caribbean Premier League is well and truly under way and as the primary purpose of the competition should be the development of West Indian youngsters, it has been a pleasure to see the lads keeping pace with the stars, in terms of performances. Though, one would find that the Guyana Amazon Warriors are currently the source of these performers.
Match 3 – Tion Webster
Tion Webster, in his innings of 66 not out, played the ideal opener role as the Trinbago Knight Riders downed old foes the Jamaica Tallawahs in Match 3 of Hero CPL 2019. The right-hander didn’t actually face a delivery until the 3rd over. However, he was able to provide a flow of steady runs from one end, ensuring there was always a set batsman at the crease as his teammates were allowed to bat around him, proving key to the hosts’ winning total of 191.
With stand-in captain Rachael Haynes the only batter unable to get among the runs, the scorecard would not tell the story of WINDIES’ improved effort with the ball, in the 2nd ODI against Australia on Sunday. Still, Australia Women were able to take an unassailable 2-0 series lead in the three-match ODI series—eventually cruising to a 151-run win in Antigua.
Stafanie Taylor, however, can take heart in the way her reshuffled bowling attack picked themselves up from a disappointing display on Thursday. Yet, the lack of genuine wicket-taking options and game changers meant that the Australians were able to come out on top in a game of ‘who blinks first’.
