The Guyana Amazon Warriors have confirmed their overseas signings ahead of the 2024 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
The Warriors welcome back the overseas cohort that led them to their inaugural CPL championship in 2023. Joining them will be Rahmanullah Gurbaz who was part of their squad in 2022.
Imran Tahir, the man who captained them to their first title last year, is back with the team for this season.
AKEAL HOSEIN says West Indies are taking no team for granted in the ongoing Twenty20 World Cup, following their comprehensive win over minnows Uganda on Saturday night.
The Caribbean side steamrolled the African nation by 134 runs after racking up 173 for five at the Guyana National Stadium and then bundling out their opponents for a paltry 39.
And with West Indies turning their attention to New Zealand in their next match on Wednesday in Trinidad, Hosein said it was important for the team to maintain their intensity.
“I think we are not taking anyone lightly. Our aim is two points no matter who we come up against,” said the left-arm spinner, whose career-best five-wicket haul on Saturday spearheaded West Indies’ dominant win.
“Yes, we will go back and plan. We know there may be a stronger unit than this opposition but going forward, every opposition we come up against, the aim is to get two points. And we’re not taking anyone for granted.”

The Trinbago Knight Riders have confirmed the players they have retained and signed ahead of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) draft. They have 15 confirmed players for the 2024 season and will have two emerging player spots to fill at the draft in July.
The Knight Riders have signed Australian batter Tim David for the 2024 season. David has had success in the CPL in the past with the Saint Lucia Kings. They have also secured the services of experienced and explosive England international Jason Roy.
USA international Ali Khan and Afghan spinner Waqar Salamkheil will return to the franchise for the 2024 season. The Knight Riders have also signed Ireland left arm seamer Josh Little.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has promised ground staff will try to “remedy” ongoing problems with the drop-in pitches at its showcase ground in New York.
Cricket’s world governing body publicly acknowledged for the first time since the T20 World Cup began that there have been teething issues with the surfaces.
While players and coaches have so far refused to criticise the pitches at the venue, BBC Sport understands India has privately voiced their unhappiness with the unpredictable bounce and two-paced nature of the strips in Eisenhower Park amid worries over the safety of their batters.
“The ICC recognise that the pitches used so far at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium have not played as consistently as we would have all wanted,” the ICC said in a statement on Thursday.

The Barbados Royals have confirmed the players they have retained and signed ahead of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) draft. They have 14 confirmed players for the 2024 season and will have three spots to fill at the draft in July.
South African batters Quinton de Kock and David Miller return for the Royals in 2024 to give their lineup explosive power. Overseas bowlers Maheesh Theekshana, Naveen ul Haq and Keshav Maharaj will also be with the Barbados franchise this season.
The Royals will have retained West Indies T20 captain Rovman Powell along with hugely experienced all-rounder Jason Holder. Left arm seamer Obed McCoy and exciting youngster Ramon Simmonds are also returning for the Royals.
