EORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC) — Captain Nicholas Pooran has alluded to "frustrating times" for West Indies' batsmen in the wake of the latest One-Day International defeat to Bangladesh, but said his side would continue to work diligently to solve their batting crisis.
The Caribbean tasted their 10th defeat on the trot to the Tigers when they a suffered nine-wicket thrashing in the second ODI at the Guyana National Stadium here Wednesday, the result coming on the heels of last Sunday's six-wicket loss.
In both games, West Indies' batting proved abysmal with totals of 149 and 108 – the latter their second lowest-ever against Bangladesh.
Pooran conceded the period was a difficult one for the batting group but backed them to remain focussed on solutions.
"At the moment, it's frustrating times for us as a batting group in ODI cricket but we're together, we're a family and we're going to figure it out soon," said a downbeat Pooran.

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad – Cricket West Indies (CWI) today announced the opening of the box offices for the highly-anticipated CG United One-Day International (ODIs) and first T20 International (T20I) between West Indies and India.
Box offices will open at Queen’s Park Oval and the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) Office at the National Cricket Centre, Couva from 12 noon on Thursday 14 July and then open from 10am to 4pm daily (excluding Sunday 17 July) leading up to each match day. Stadium box offices will open 2 hours before the match start time on each match day.
The three-match CG United ODI Series will be at the historic Oval from Friday 22 July to Wednesday 27 July, including the 2nd CG United ODI on the Sunday 24 July. The curtain raiser for five-match T20I Series will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on 29 July.
Bangladesh condemned the West Indies to a second consecutive defeat, this time by nine wickets, to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in their three-match ODI series at Providence in Guyana on Wednesday.
Asked to bat by the tourists, the West Indies struggled to find runs, scoring 27 in the first 10.3 overs when Kyle Mayers was bowled for 17 by Mossadek Hossian.
Nasum Ahmed bowled Shamarh Brooks for five and Captain Nicholas Pooran for a duck and also removed Shai Hope for 18 as the West Indies slumped further into the mire at 45-4.
Vice-Captain Rovman Powell and Brandon King briefly offered some respite with a fifth-wicket stand of 24 before Powell skied one from Shoriful Islam and was caught by Mahmudullah for 13.
ST JOHN'S, Antigua (CMC) — Joshua Da Silva headlines a specialist wicket-keeping camp that he is expecting to not only sharpen his glove skills but improve his batting for the Test squad.
The hero from the West Indies' sensational Test Series triumph over England earlier this year is joined by West Indies T20 International keeper Devon Thomas, as well as Tevin Imlach and Daniel Williams at the Coolidge Cricket Ground (CCG), after being invited to be part of the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Emerging Players Academy programme.
"I am always working on my keeping and also working on my fitness. It is great that CWI brought me to Antigua for this week to work with the coaches and improve my skills as much as I can, so I can't thank them enough for that," said Da Silva, who has played 16 Tests and taken 57 catches and effected four stumpings.
