Two months after the announcement of a five-year plan that involved West Indies touring Pakistan every year until 2022, PCB chairman Najam Sethi has walked back on that claim, saying it was a cost-ineffective option. In November last year, Sethi had stated that the PCB and Cricket West Indies (CWI) agreed to play a series of Twenty20 matches annually over the next five years that involved matches in Pakistan as well as the USA.Sethi insisted that West Indies' upcoming tour to Pakistan in March was "on so far". That three-match T20I series is scheduled to be played in the last week of March. The games were originally meant to be played in November last year, but logistical challenges, as well as heavy smog that swept across large parts of the country in the first half of November, forced the tour's postponement. Both CWI and the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) had given their approval for the tour providing the security situation in Pakistan remained satisfactory. Pakistan hosted a World XI side for a three-match T20I series last September, followed by the third match of a T20I series against Sri Lanka in October.

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The Selection Panel of Cricket West Indies (CWI) today announced the WINDIES 15-man squad for the ICC World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe.
The ICC World Cup qualifiers will be played from March 4 to 25. The WINDIES have been drawn in Group A alongside Ireland, The Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, and the ICC World Cricket League Division 2 winners.

ST JOHN'S, Antigua (CMC) — Superstar opener Chris Gayle will return to domestic limited-overs action for the first time in seven years when he headlines the Regional Super50 starting next Tuesday.
The 38-year-old has been included in the Jamaica Scorpions squad for the January 30 to February 24 tournament, bringing added flavour to a campaign which has lacked star quality in recent years.
Gayle is the Caribbean's premier one-day batsman with over 9,000 runs in 275 One-Day Internationals (ODI), and nearly 12,000 in A List cricket.
However, his last appearance in a domestic 50-overs tournament was back in 2011 when Jamaica beat Trinidad and Tobago in the final at the Guyana National Stadium.
The left-hander will be joined by explosive all-rounder Andre Russell, who returns to action after serving a one-year anti-doping whereabouts ban, which also kept him out of international cricket.
Russell has missed the last three years of the tournament and, like Gayle, will bring an added quality to the Scorpions, who were last year's losing finalists.
Champion off-spinner Sunil Narine will also suit up for this year's competiton after being named in the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force.

Left-handers Devon Smith of Windward Islands Volcanoes and Veerasammy Permaul of Guyana Jaguars were the top individual performers in the 2017-18 Digicel 4-Day Championship which ended on Sunday.
Smith gathered 1,095 runs at an average of 84.23 to cover himself in personal glory. He became the fourth batsman to score more than 1,000 runs in a single WINDIES first-class season and establish a new record for the most runs in a single WINDIES first-class season.
It was a remarkable achievement for the veteran left-handed opener, considering he reached the mark in just 10 matches. He earns the Viv Richards Award and a US $1,500 cheque.
Permaul collected exactly 50 wickets at 18.90 apiece. It is the second time that the left-arm spinner has finished with the most wickets in a season. He earns the Courtney Walsh Award and a US $1,500 prize.
Jaguars’ Anthony Bramble effected 45 dismissals, comprising 42 catches and three stumpings, and was the leading wicketkeeper this season and takes the Deryck Murray Award and a US $1,500 cheque, the same amount that has been secured by Jonathan Carter along with the Clive Lloyd Award for holding 17 catches in the field.
Two other individual awards, chosen by the selection panel of Cricket West Indies, have been announced.
John Campbell of Jamaica Scorpions has earned the Malcolm Marshall Award and a US $1,500 payday for being the top all-rounder, having accumulated 603 runs at an average of 43.07 and collected 19 wickets at 24.52 apiece.
Shermon Lewis of Windward Islands Volcanoes has won the Andy Roberts Award and a US $1,000 cheque for being the most promising fast bowler. He collected 30 wickets at 21.70 apiece in his first full season of the #D4Day.
Champions Guyana Jaguars also pocketed US $36,000, comprising US $15,000 for winning the Championship and US $21,000 for winning seven matches.
For winning each match, the teams gained US $3,000. As a result, Barbados Pride and Jamaica Scorpions earned US $9,000, and Leeward Islands Hurricanes, Windward Islands Volcanoes and Trinidad & Tobago Red Force pocketed US $6,000.
